As the saying goes, learning never exhausts the mind. This is something that baker and pastry chef Ritika Algude keeps in mind while dishing out delectable desserts for Dezato, which is own her bakery and patisserie.

Ritika has been baking since her school and college days. “Soon, my friend and I began baking together and I decided to follow my passion. I went for an internship at Le Plaisir, Pune. It was a really good experience and I liked it. That’s how my baking journey started officially”.

Learning new things never goes to waste. This talented baker believes in adding to the knowledge as you go. She has studied from the prestigious Lavonne Academy, Bangalore.

The first thing that Ritika remembers baking is cookies. She enjoys baking everything so doesn’t have a particular favourite. Throughout her baking journey, her friends and family have been very supportive, despite some initial hesitation from her mother.

“Starting Dezato involved a lot of thinking, conceptualizing and stress! For investing in something like a bakery or a studio, it requires a huge amount and you don’t know what the outcome is going to be. As there were so many home bakers already, it was hard to decide what to do. Finally, I decided that I wanted a central kitchen and it should be all about made-to-order products and outsourcing. And then later maybe have a kiosk. So that was the thought process behind Dezato”, says Ritika.

Dezato means ‘dessert’ in Japanese. The name stuck with Ritika and that’s how her brainchild was christened. It dishes out all kinds of bakery products and Ritika believes that this is the USP of Dezato as people are not restricted with their options. For advertising, she mostly relies on word of mouth and social media.
